I booked this hotel as a surprise for our 25th wedding anniversary. The web advert said there was a swimming pool and health spa. This was untrue. We had to book facilities at another Boscolo hotel and then walk there. I was also embarrassed when my wife wanted to have a bath and there was no hot water. This was eventually fixed next day. Fortunately my wife and me were open minded wanting nothing to spoil our first visit to Rome and the location of the hotel made this possible. This hotel was not the special treat I hoped it would be. We will revisit Rome soon but will not be staying at The Palace Hotel.
Top Tip
Bring a good pair of walking trainers and enjoy the city by walking. When walking there are a number of hidden gems for you to eat in and discover away from the main thoroughfares.

The hotel was well located, about a 15 minute walk to the spanish steps and 10 minute taxi from the train station. However, our room was not very good. It had a musty smell, dirty shower and their were tiles missing from the bathroom floor. Definantly not what I would expect of a four star hotel.
Staff were friendly, but not overly helpful in suggesting restaurants and areas of interest in Rome
The front hall and breakfast room were quite nice though.

Great location within walking distance of Railway station as well as Spanish Steps but, frankly a run-down hotel. Rooms were shabbily done, bathrooms were shokingly dirty, doors of shelves were off their hinges - to name a few. On the positive side, staff were helpful and gave us a choice of rooms to select from.

This hotel looks like a 4-star from the outside but is in urgent need of interior refurbishment. My tips (1) don't pay anymore than you would for a three star and (2) make sure you're happy with the room (esp the bathroom) before you accept it.
